Roles & Partnerships
SweetFreedom is a research-community initiative developing a multi-factorial protocol for Type 1 Diabetes. We collaborate with a small, distributed group of clinicians, researchers, and professionals committed to rigorous investigation.
Below are the roles we are actively seeking to fill. Each one is structured around a defined scope and time commitment – we believe in clear expectations on both sides.
If you don’t see a fit but feel you could contribute, please get in touch anyway. The right people often arrive in unexpected ways.
Protocol Director
The Protocol Director holds clinical authority over protocol-specific decisions across the SweetFreedom pilot. The role is retained by SweetFreedom and works in close coordination with the on-site Supervising Physician, who carries full clinical safety authority. This dual structure protects both patient safety and protocol integrity.
- Make protocol-specific decisions, including dose adjustments based on biomarkers
- Determine Decision Gate outcomes at Week 12 and Month 6 for each participant
- Analyze cohort-level patterns and contribute to ongoing protocol refinement
- Coordinate with the on-site Supervising Physician on protocol-related care
- Participate in quarterly governance reviews
- Senior medical professional (MD)
- Background in endocrinology or functional medicine
- Familiarity with Type 1 Diabetes pathophysiology and management
- Comfort with research protocols and biomarker-driven decisions
- Interest in multi-factorial approaches to autoimmune disease
